As I have a wide range of ecclectic interests, and I believe in sharing the breadth of the internet's offerings that pique these interests, I have created this page as a portal to various waypoints that I expect my site visitors to enjoy. As the site progresses, some of these items should also include my own creations within the site. Expect this description to be updated only sporadically.

I have always found great comfort in this video. There is a certain quality of longing to it; of displacement and nostalgia. I often find myself watching it, wondering how it must have felt to be alone and far from islands of familiarity. Except, in a way, I do know. Just this past winter I was adrift in the tropics, carrying my life in a backpack, with bruised limbs and sandy clothes. Carried by my wanderlust to distant shores and sleeping beneath the mangroves. Weary and inspired. Learning that the further afield you go, the less life really changes.

I have never been shy about my admiration of fan fiction. To obscure this would be disingenous of my character. Perhaps this is acceptable, but fan fiction about real people seems unpalatable to most. The way I can justify it is that I find real love-- the fact that these emotions transpired in some form-- to be the most invigorating. Perhaps Lennon and McCartney did not genuinely share a bond in this manner...but does it matter? They clearly felt very strongly about each other in a way that transcends typical bounds. That, to me, is example of the beauty of the human spirit in tandem.

Jon Bois's silent masterpiece of athletic culture, Americanisms, pop science, and the internet medium speaks to me in so many ways. I would reccomend reading first 17776 and then his sequel piece 20020 whenever you have the chance. You will not be dissapointed.

Most curious young people, aspiring academics, literature consumers, and/or intelligent amateurs are likely aware of David Foster Wallace. Infinite Jest is omnipresent in the modern culture, but I find his 2005 commencement speech at Kenyon College to be his truly most illuminating work. I first listened to this speech when I was living wholly alone for the first time as an intern at the University of New Hampshire. I lay with my eyes closed on my uncomfortable couch and let the words flood into me. I expected a false prophet-- ideas that I already understood, that I could dismiss. I could never have anticipated the utter truths that DFW delivered to me on that humid, fateful evening.

This is the website that inspired me to create my own. David Madore is a Canadian-French mathematician, programmer, author, and general illuminary polymath. His whole site is a treasure trove of open wonderment, deeply personal introspection, and delightful caches of knowledge. I highly reccomend anyone who enjoys the internet in its purest form to give it a read. I apologize if my site seems like a cruel lesser imitation of his own. Thus is the curse of imitation by flattery. It is only because I admire his talents so that I dare to replicate an ounce of them.

I read this whenever I need to feel emotional. This is the final interview he gave, to my knowledge, and it so incredibly human and honest. You get a genuine feel for the person he was. Not perfect, as none of us are, but terribly unique and very wise. A wizard of our age.

This is my favorite musical, as well as my favorite recording of said musical. I watch this a lot.

While I am not myself a communist in the strictist sense of the word (I am a registered voter with the Pacific Green Party of Oregon and a member of the Democratic Socialists of America), I have always found the Trotskyist approach to be the most appealing out of the many spins off of Marx & Lenin, or attempts at reinventing the collectivist wheel. I am aware that this is an unpopular opinion. Neverthless, it is the one I prescribe to.

A friend of mine in high school showed me this book as a curiosity to puruse. He, a born Texan, was very familiar with firepower. I, a city-grown leftist raised on morning NPR, was not. Regardless, I still find it a fascinating, and at times entertainingly hilarious, pamphlet to thumb through. I do not encourage anyone to actually attempt the construction of any of these contraptions-- they're probably not very handy, anyhow.

This is another entertaining 'don't try this at home' sort of pamphlet. It's a classic amongst teenage climate activists with a little spunk. I was one such kid with a vendetta not so long ago, and as such, I reccomend anyone with a streak for sabotauge to read this and not attempt anything it instructs. Monkeywrenching is not very effective in the long run. Still, the revolution waits for nobody.

This is here because almost every internet archivist account will post scans from it every so often. It might be interesting to know where these images come from, and gain a bit of historical insight into The Troubles. Irish Republicanism is gaining visability on a global scale, but still has a long way to go. Tiocfaidh ár lá.
